- Biking - Grab your bike, a light snack, and a bottle of water, because it’s time to hit the trails! If you’re looking to get some sightseeing while biking, the TOBIE trail is a great option. This 14 mile round trip trail connects the communities of Thendara, Old Forge, Big Moose, Inlet, and Eagle Bay, making for a well rounded and adventurous ride.
- Fishing - From the many amounts of ponds and rivers scattering the backcountry of Old Forge, there is also the picture perfect Fulton Chain of Lakes!
- Hiking - Hiking is one of the most well-known activities the Adirondacks has to offer. With 46 beautiful high peaks, the Adirondacks is the perfect destination for hikers of all skill levels. - Paddling - Spend some time on the serene lakes of Old Forge! Paddling is the perfect way to have fun and relax while also allowing you to feel closer to nature.
- McCauley Mountain Scenic Chairlift - Take in all the beauty the area has to offer with a trip on the McCauley Mountain Scenic Chairlift. Enjoy the incredibly beautiful view of the historic Fulton Chain of Lakes as it stretches to the east with the line of High Peaks rising beyond. On a clear day, Whiteface Mountain and Mount Marcy are visible on the horizon. Gray Lake lies to the north between McCauley Mountain and the village of Old Forge. Riding the chairlift allows you and your family to view the mountain scenery, magnificent foliage and gorgeous views without the trouble of hiking to find the best location.
- Whitewater Rafting - Churning waters and picturesque landscape make a perfect combination for white water rafting in the Adirondacks. With several levels of excitement available, common trips include the Black River and Moose River. The Black River Gorge offers seven miles of whitewater rafting from Watertown to Brownville and offers a challenge for rafters of all levels. In the spring, experienced rafters can thrill to Class IV-V rapids. For three weeks only, every April, the Moose River’s 13 Miles of Class V Rapids offers the ultimate whitewater rafting challenge. Icy waters and big drops are the reason why rafting on Big Moose has been referred to as “Slam-dancing with Mother Nature”.
