Then, take your goodies with you on your way to McCauley Mountain to enjoy some fall views or on your way to walk around Old Forge enjoying the unique stores in the area.
McCauley Mountain Scenic Chairlift:
Take the chairlift to the top of McCauley Mountain to experience one of the best views Old Forge has to offer. On a clear day, both Whiteface Mountain and Mount Marcy can be seen on the horizon. This spot is always a great place to get a bird’s eye view of the village of Old Forge as well as the lakes and mountains that surround it. Keep in mind when planning your great evening that the chairlift closes at 4:30 so, be sure to get there in plenty of time to watch the evening sun illuminate the fall leaves. The scenic chairlift also only runs until mid-October, but no fear if your great night on the town is in late October, there is still plenty to do! (Did someone say shopping?)

This general store has been a staple of Old Forge for over 100 years! This historic store offers anything you could desire, from books, kitchen items, and toys to furniture, houseware, and camping gear all in one terrific location. Old Forge Hardware is a must see as part of your Old Forge adventure and a great place to pick up a souvenir to remember your great evening by. Be sure to stop in, as you walk down lovely main street and stop in all the unique shops that catch your eye!

Old Forge is home to tons of great restaurants, and Frankie’s is no exception! This cozy Italian restaurant has been a staple of the area for 24 years, providing great meals and service to all who come through. Frankie’s is also home to New York state’s largest selection of rare premium Kentucky bourbon. The extent of what Frankie’s has to offer doesn’t stop there. Three words – Homemade Italian Gelato! This great atmosphere full of treats will only add to the perfection of your night out on the town.
